Walk the Edge of Wales, a 47 mile coastal route staying at en suite accommodation

Day 1 Arrive at the Beuno Inn in Clynnog Fawr. Clynnog is accessible by public transport, by taking a train to Bangor Station from Manchester or Liverpool Airports, followed by a number 5 bus to Caernarfon and a number 12 bus to Clynnog. Alternatively if you rent a car, the A55 North Coast Road will take you quickly to Bangor, followed by the A487 through Caernarfon, then the A499.  Clynnog Church was the traditional assembly point for medieval pilgrims making the journey to Bardsey Island and whose footsteps you follow. The Beuno is a friendly village inn with en suite bedrooms.

Day 2 After breakfast set out on the first section of the walk over the high moors at Bwlch Mawr. This is wild and rocky moorland with lovely views of the foothills of Snowdonia. This part is often shrouded in low-lying cloud so your GPS may come in very handy! Then continue over the distinctive three peaks of the Yr Eifl hills before continuing to the village of Llithfaen where you will be picked up and returned to the Beuno. (Distance = 12 miles)

Day 3 After being returned to Llithfaen you can walk down the pass to the beautiful and isolated valley of Nant Gwrtheyrn, the path snaking down the sheer sides of the valley www.nantgwrtheyrn.org  The route then continues along the cliffs through wind-stunted oak woodland before reaching chough country and the tiny pilgrim’s church at Pistyll finishing in the seaside village of Nefyn and your new accommodation at the Caeau Capel where your luggage awaits. This is a family run hotel with en suite rooms and evening meals www.caeaucapelhotel.com (Distance = 10 miles).

Day 4 Set off along the coast past the celebrated Inn at Porth Dinllaen and some of the best coastal scenery in the UK www.tycoch.co.uk  and on to Porth Oer from where we will pick you up and take you to your new accommodation at the Ship Hotel in Aberdaron, a friendly village inn with en suite rooms, some with sea views www.theshiphotelaberdaron.co.uk  (Distance = 15 miles).

Day 5 We will return you to Porth Oer for you to walk around the National Trust owned headland at the tip of the peninsula- stunning views of Bardsey Island- finishing in Aberdaron itself www.aberdaronlink.co.uk. (Distance = 11 miles).

Day 6 Walk to Porth Meudwy not far from Aberdaron and take the Enlli ferry across to Bardsey Island see www.bardsey.org. This is a beautiful place, full of wildlife and steeped in history. Visitors have three hours to explore before returning to the mainland. The cost is £30 per head. You will return circa 3:30pm. We will then return you to your car if it is not already with you in Aberdaron and you can set off for home.
